   Sensational Atmosphere in Semmering
von Christiane Mitterwallner

Hello everybody, itīs me again and I want to give you a report about the Semmering World Cup race (30/12/2000) from my point of view.

It was the last giant slalom of 2001, just in sight of the capital of Vienna - and it was phantastic. The many people there made the atmosphere sensational, from the start to the finish line of the course. It was a great experience (in my own country!). The noise of the crowd virtually carries you from start to finish.

My first run is rather not going to be historical. I even had to fear about the qualification. Thank god I made it by hairīs breadth. Thatīs what I call good luck. Then I had an excellent second run. I was third best, for I had nothing to loose. In the end I was eleventh and completely happy. However, I know very well that I was fast in only one of the two runs. The more I am motivated for 2001.

On 3. and 4. January the Austrian team will be training at the Reiteralm, where I learned how to ski long time ago. After that, we will be going to Maribor/Slovenia, where the next giant slalom is going to take place.

A happy New Year to all my fans!
